We Have Lift Off!

This week was launch week for Havock, starting with the big event at Oldham Library on Thursday.

I was thrilled (and relieved!) that it was well-attended and I didn’t have to follow through on my threats of corralling unsuspecting and confused passers-by into the library with promises of comedy, fantasy and bingo.

The evening started with some bribes to get those that had been dragged along by their partners on side – who doesn’t love a free (and incredibly exclusive) designer mug

We could then move onto my favourite subject: me. Fortunately, I love talking about myself almost as much as looking at myself in the mirror, so even I was interested to hear me speak about my writing background and how Havock was born.

But then the big event: Book BingoTM  (can I trademark that?). My invention. My creation. Brought lovingly into the world and given generously to the folk of Oldham Library. A hybrid of book-related bingo and a quiz, with prizes of… yes, mugs. There’s a lot to be said for mugs: they’re great for keeping a hot drink in, and you can print things on them. Genius.

No-one at all everyone seemed to enjoy it and pleaded for another round. Alas, time was against us with a Q&A and book sales & signings still on the agenda.

A huge thank you to all that came – I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. I doubt it, but it got you out of the house for the evening, eh?

The next evening I was one of ten authors reading at a Noir event at the lovely Serenity Booksellers in Romiley, where I had another chance to bang on about read an extract from Havock to a wonderful packed out audience, as well as enjoy a diverse range of readings from talented authors.

Serenity Booksellers is a delightful book shop which is really integrated into the community, so if you’re in the area do call in and have a nosey (and bag yourself a copy of Havock!).

Thank you to all who helped make it a hugely enjoyable launch week!

It really was a great event – thank you! We’re fighting over the book at the moment and having a bit of healthy competition as to who can read it first!
